Must-read series of fantasy books

Updated: Dec 18, 2018

The top 20 series, mostly similar in content to mine, that I really enjoyed. Generally these are not seen as great literary works of art. They have simple, stock-standard storylines and are predominantly plot-driven with few distractions and plenty of bang for your buck. In no particular order.

  1. Brock Deskins - Sorcerer series

  2. Trevor Cooley - Bowl of Souls series

  3. John Flanagan - Ranger Apprentice series

  4. D.W. Jackson - Mage series

  5. Guy Antibes - Sorceror series

  6. Hunter Andrew - Necromancer's Nephew series

  7. Butcer Jim - Codex Alera series (+ Dresden Files of course)

  8. Michael Manning - Mageborn series

  9. Ryan Kirk - Nightblade

  10. Quyle Jeff - Inner Seas & Memory Stones series

  11. Hamilton Duncan - Society of the Sword series

  12. Mataharu Taran - The Summoner series

  13. Duncan Pile - Nature Mage series

  14. Sebastien de Castell - Spellslinger & Greatcoats series

  15. Jonas Rhynedall - Magician series

  16. Chris Holloway - Blademage series

  17. James Berardinelli - Last Whisper of the Gods series

  18. Ben Hale - Warsworn series only

  19. Chris Bradford - Way of the Warrior series

  20. Will Wight - Cradle series only

Do you want a series about a hard-working young boy who follows a martial magical path to greatness? If so the list above is for you.
